Real Weddings Wednesday: Presenting Jessica Diaz and Kevan Litz

The Couple:  Jessica Diaz and Kevan Litz

Wedding Date:  September 17, 2011

Photography by Meagan Lucy with Christopher Kight Photographers

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  We met as children (in junior high school), started dating when we were 23 and married when we were 28. We love to be active together. Things WE love to do together are: camping, road trips, the water (oceans, lakes, rivers), the outdoors and, of course, sports (football, baseball, NASCAR)!

What was the most amazing part of your day?  The ceremony and being in Lake Tahoe!!! Also, the anticipation of getting married, the beautiful weather and enjoying the magnificent scenery with close friends and family.

Any other of your wedding vendor(s) you’d like to call out?  Event Masters (PA system, tables and chairs). They were awesome to work with, very understanding and helpful!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?  Relax and enjoy every moment! It goes quickly. Most people attending will not remember the small details like you, just remember to do what’s most important for you and your fiance — you two are what matter the most!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?  Start getting ready as early as possible to enjoy the day!!! Rushing is not enjoyable.

Real Weddings Sunday: Presenting Heather Grabow and Tom Taylor

The Couple:  Heather Grabow and Tom Taylor

Wedding Date:  July 22, 2011

Photography by Meagan Lucy, Christopher Kight Photographers

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  Tom was on an interview board for a Physical Education teacher position at a junior high when Heather came in to be the winning candidate for the job. They were immediate friends and did everything together. But, it wasn’t until a year later that Tom grabbed Heather’s face to plant a kiss on her that they started dating.

Ten months later, they had a week off for furlough days and headed to Humboldt County so that Heather could show Tom where she went to school and meet her friends or at least that’s what she thought. A few days into their adventures, they were hiking around Patrick’s Point State Park when they came upon a trail that would take them to Wedding Rock. There were many jokes exchanged about how Heather must have planned this to pressure Tom into talking about marriage, but he still wanted to see what Wedding Rock looked like. It was at the end of the trail overlooking the ocean, that Tom got on one knee and pulled out the ring that he had been carrying around for the week which put Heather into the giggles from the excitement.

To this day, Tom and Heather still work at the same school and enjoy every minute of their life together!

What was the most amazing part of your day?  The most amazing part of the day was seeing all of our friends and family coming together to share of our love, commitment and celebration!

What else would you like to share about your big day?  There was never a minute that either of us had a second guess or worry about what we were doing. Our family and friends helped us make the decorations and assisted with set up and clean-up which made it feel like it was a community coming together for us. It was amazing!

Ceremony Site & Reception Venue:  Sunset Whitney Country Club

Photographer:  Meagan Lucy, Christopher Kight Photographers

Caterer:  House of Chicken & Ribs

Cake:  Icing on the Cupcake

Flowers:  Ambience Floral Design

Favors:  Bird seed hearts created by Nature Favors from Etsy

Wedding Dress:  Alfred Angelo

Bridesmaid Dresses:  All of the bridesmaids selected their own dress from where ever they wanted. The only request from the bride was that it was in a purple shade and that it was organza or organza like material.

Hair & Makeup:  Carla Purther

Invitations:  Pulp Papery

DJ/Entertainment/Band:  DJ Ron West

Honeymoon location:  Cabo San Lucas

First Dance Song:  “Marry Me” by Train

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?  Remember that this wedding is about you and your beloved! Everyone has their own opinions and advice so listen to those, but make your decisions on what you want to see. This is your day!

Also, if you can, plan for your honeymoon a few days to a week after your wedding so that you can relax and enjoy your first few days together as a married couple. We did that and we greatly appreciated it!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?  No, everything was perfect!
