Real Weddings Magazine Inspiration Board: Presenting Diane and David Feinstein
The Couple: Diane and David Feinstein
Wedding Date: April 17, 2010
Photography by Chuck Roberts Photography
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Dave and I met in February 2007. I had just started working at the City of Fairfield as a Housing Project Manager. I met the Senior Planner, Dave Feinstein, my second day there, and we went on a field trip with two other co-workers to tour an affordable housing development in a nearby community. We had lunch on the way home and I learned Dave mom’s side of the family had lived in Bay Village, Ohio, for several generations; Bay Village happens to be the community right next to where I grew up my entire childhood, Avon Lake, Ohio. Dave had been to Bay Village, too, and I found it amazing what a small world to have that close a connection.
I also like the fact that Dave was fun and interesting to talk to. I guess Dave felt the same way because he managed to find opportunities to talk to me in the next few weeks, and we ended up going to the same dinner out party with co-workers at Lucca’s in Sacramento. Dave managed to subtly sit next to me and it was then that I began to suspect that, hey, he might be as fascinated by me as I was by him. We had lunch the next week before Dave went to San Diego on a business trip and I said in an email that he could call me at home if he liked while he was gone…well, he did, and the rest is history…I have never been happier!
What was the most amazing part of your day? Not a moment, so much as what the day symbolized. Our wedding was a joining of a couple but it was also a joining of a family, as I have two teenage children. They are both amazing kids who have truly accepted Dave and are grateful to see how happy he makes me.
I really enjoyed the fact that Dave chose to have my 15-year-old son Jared to be his Best Man and I chose to have my 17-year-old daughter Julie be my Maid of Honor. I couldn’t have been more proud! With the four of us comprising the wedding party, we designed a ceremony that would highlight us as both a new couple and a new family. Dave and I lit a unity candle (with a little difficulty, causing some laughter!). Dave and I also did a blended sand ceremony with Julie and Jared to show the unity of all four of us coming together as a family.
What else would you like to share about your big day? We had lots of friends and family members attend our wedding, but also lots of co-workers, since work was what brought us together. To symbolize that aspect of our relationship, we were honored to have the Mayor of Fairfield, Harry Price, officiate at our wedding. Dave and I knew right away that there couldn’t be a more fitting person to join us in marriage.

Any other of your wedding venors that you’d like to call out? We couldn’t have picked a better set of vendors – all of them. In particular, we’d like to thank TLC, Chuck Roberts Photography and Ambience Floral Design. Not only was TLC’s food fantastic, but they were a big help with colors and laying out the room. Chuck Roberts’s daughter Mackenzie is not only a great photographer (you get two excellent photographers!) but also extremely helpful in organizing how the whole event should flow. Finally, Katie at Ambience Floral Design seemed to know instinctively how to take our vision for what the our wedding should look and feel like and turn it into a reality that was better than we could have imagined. The Old Sugar Mill – a spectacular venue on its own – truly glowed that night thanks to Ambience.
First Dance Song: ”Always” by Irving Berlin
Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Decide together what you both want and focus in on that. Oh, and interview several florists. We saw three in one day. Seeing the work of different professionals in such a short period really helped us focus on ideas we liked and ideas we didn’t. By the end of the day, we knew exactly how we wanted our wedding to look.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? No, we truly worked together as a team to make this a memorable occasion for us and our guests!

Inspiration Board: Presenting Jesika and Clay Pelley
The Couple: Jesika Muller and Clay Pelley
Wedding Date: October 3, 2009
Photography by Chuck Roberts Photography
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Clay and I met through mutual friends in high school. I was 16 and he was 17. We developed a great relationship and friendship while having to grow up and go through our late teens and early 20’s together. We had set goals for ourselves before we could even think about marriage. After accomplishing all of our goals and 9 years into our relationship, he proposed at the same spot where we shared our first kiss. We are truly best friends and couldn’t image our lives without each other. We were blessed to become husband and wife just a few days short of our 12 year anniversary!
What was the most amazing part of your day? Walking down the aisle with my Dad was a very special moment for me, as I am Daddy’s little girl. But most of all was seeing my soon to be husband waiting for me to become his wife. It was an amazing feeling that I will never forget.
What else would you like to share about your big day? We had been planning our wedding for over a year, and to finally see it all come together was more than words could describe. Everything from the venue, flowers, decorations, linens, DJ, and the photographer were perfect. So many friends and family pitched in to lend a helping hand, and creative advice. Even though I was glad not to have to worry about what goes here, what goes there and what color this should be, I do miss it and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? “Step back and take a moment to soak it all in.” That was the best advice any could have given me. You hear all the time that the day goes by so fast, as it does. I did just that and I am so glad that I did because that was the moment that I realized this was everything and more that I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl. It really was the perfect day.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Nothing!

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We met in high school, but we only had one class together, and we didn’t keep in touch after graduation. We randomly ran into each other almost five years later at a dive bar – and have been inseparable ever since!
What was the most amazing part of your day? The venue and the photography! We both knew we wanted to get married outside, and as soon as we saw the golf course at Whitney Oaks, we knew we had found our wedding site! Chuck and Mackenzie (with Chuck Roberts Photography) did a great job with the pictures, and the scenery was breathtaking!
What else would you like to share about your big day? Everything flowed so nicely on our wedding day! Our photographers put together a schedule for us, and worked with our wedding coordinator to make sure that everything was taken care of. The pressure and stress was taken off of our hands and we were able to enjoy our big day!
