Real Weddings Dazzling Dresses: Think Pink
This week we take a cue from recent bride Anne Hathaway and explore the blushing shade of pink in wedding gowns. Many brides are choosing non-traditional colors for their frocks (in fact, before Queen Victoria choose white for her gown as a political gesture, brides wore vibrant colors like red, green and purple at their ceremonies). The color trend returns as brides walk down the aisle in stunning scarlet, gorgeous grey and bold black.
The color pink has also made a comeback in recent years, most recently with Miss Hathaway. For her divinely romantic Valentino dress, she chose a pale pink tint at the bottom of her skirt that faded into traditional white.
This dress may remind you of another trendsetter, Gwen Stefani, who wed in Galliano several years back with a shocking blast of pink tulle and satin in her fabulous gown. Anne took a softer tone, but still made brilliant statement.
“Mr. Valentino Garavani designed it especially for Anne and our seamstresses at the couture atelier in Rome made it,” shared a representative for Valentino. “Anne is like a daughter to him.”
And, as a bonus, Anne has decided to sell her wedding photos and donate much of the proceeds to Freedom to Marry, a pro-gay marriage campaign, and other non-profits. What a class act!

Real Weddings Dazzling Dresses: What Will Angelina Wear?
Move over Kate. There’s another famous gal walking the aisle…and all eyes will be on Angelina Jolie’s dazzling dress! And you better believe the designers to the stars have their own vision of what Ms. Jolie should wear.
Mark Badgley and James Mischka submitted a sketch of a classic, vintage-inspired gown (left) to PEOPLE magazine. “[Something] like this would be perfect for Angelina,” they say. “Its beaded bodice would give her just the right amount of sparkle, and the fitted tulle skirt with godets makes it elegant and totally glamorous.”
The ever-romantic Monique Lhuillier had a different vision, sketching a Chantilly lace gown with a beautiful V-neckline, low back and high slit (center). “Angie has style,” she tells PEOPLE. “She takes a classic look and adds a sultry, sexy edge and makes it her own.”
Perhaps that classic look is what Reem Acra went for, then; the Lebanese designer says she envisions Jolie in a body-skimming ivory satin gown complete with a dramatic embellishment at the shoulder (right).
Very interesting predictions. I’m going out on a limb and forecasting a non-white or ivory dress…maybe a deep red or even black. Angelina’s never been one to be traditional in her choices. What do you think she’s wear to exchange vows with Brad? Let us know in your comments.

Real Weddings Dazzling Dresses: Hillary Scott in Custom Vera Wang!
Hillary Scott of popular country group Lady Antebellum got herself hitched! She and now husband Chris Tyrrell tied the knot in upstate New York last Saturday and bride looked stunning in a custom gown by designer Vera Wang.
“Hillary was joyous, over the moon,” Wang told PEOPLE magazine. “And [she was] actually very enchanted with the thought of a hand-pieced, hand-engineered lace mermaid wedding gown.”
The strapless dress featured all-over lace underlay, a layered tulle skirt with horsehair banding and a hand-cut corded lace applique with hand-applied crystal-and-pearl beading.
“While the dress was very tailored, the lace work was extremely feminine,” Wang explains.
Scott finished her look with an embroidered, cathedral-length mantilla veil with hand-cut Chantilly lace applique.
“[She was] a contemporary vision of a traditional bride,” Wang says proudly.
