Real Weddings Partner Profiles: Gold Hill Vineyard and Brewery
Welcome back to another installment of Real Weddings Magazine’s Partner Profiles!
This week we highlight Bryna Dacus from Gold Hill Vineyard and Brewery. What a beautiful family owned and operated venue at which to get married! We love that Bryna remembers her dad making wine in the basement of their home when she was just a kid. Take it away Bryna!
Gold Hill Vineyard and Brewery
Tell us a little about your company? It all started in the basement of the house I grew up in in Palo Alto. My father made a 1975 Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1980, a good friend who owned property in Placerville found this great plot of land. The soil was perfect for grapes and my father saw considerable potential and Gold Hill Vineyard was born. The location is so beautiful and serene that he decided to share it with couples getting married. He created two venues for weddings and/or receptions. Couples are treated like family, and we enjoy having them return on anniversaries for years.
When did you establish your business? The winery was bonded in 1985 and the brewery has been in operation since 2000.
What sets you apart from your competition? We have wine and beer that are produced on site. For weddings, couples don’t need to worry about where they are going to source beverages for their guests. We have California Champagne for the toast and award-winning wines and beers for the reception. We’re the only winery in El Dorado County that has an onsite brewery. Our 49r Red Ale won Best of Show at the State Fair this year.
Where do you find inspiration? From the vineyards. It reminds me that you can achieve a dream if you work really hard. I helped plant many of the vines when I was kid so I guess you could say I’m invested in the place. To me, Gold Hill represents my father’s dream and I am fortunate to be a part of that on a daily basis.
Do you Facebook? Yes, friend us on Facebook here!
Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? Wine…duh.
What are you most grateful for in life? My husband, family and friends. I’m blessed.
If you were to plan your own wedding, or re-do your wedding, what elements would be most important to you? I did plan my own wedding here in 2007. I was able to work with some fantastic local wedding professionals. The only thing I would change is to make it last longer. It was the perfect day.
What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Try not to get stressed out. It’s your day; make it yours because it goes by fast. And, a good MC/DJ is really important to keep things on track.

Reminder… Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event Tomorrow!
Just a reminder Real Weddings Brides!
This Saturday is the big day for the Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Here’s the 411 on the upcoming event:
Don’t miss this unique, one-of-a-kind wedding showcase on Saturday, January 15th.
Introducing the Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event!
During this unique event, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the wedding venues in the beautiful and historic Coloma Valley. Tour the facilities, taste food from the venues’ preferred caterers and meet other top wedding vendors from the local area.
All participating venues are within 1.5 miles of each other. The event runs from 1-5 p.m. so you will have plenty of time to visit all the venues!
Tucked away on Hwy 49 between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, the Coloma Valley is nestled in California’s Gold Country. With outstanding venues, beautiful scenery, and fabulous vendors, this event is not to be missed! The show producers say, “No matter your budget, theme, or unique vision, we have a venue to meet your needs — and planners to help get you there!”
Each of the venues will be providing their own prizes so you’ll want to make sure you register at each of the venues you tour so you can be in the running for all the fabulous prizes that will be given away. Bring labels brides…hint, hint!
And ladies, here’s a suggestion: If you’re bringing your groom along, you might want to drop him off at the Sierra Nevada House (corner of Hwy 49 and Lotus Rd) for some “guy time.” Sierra Nevada House will have football on the big screen, brews and snacks on hand all day. And, once your fella is settled in for some guy fun, you and your girls can make your way leisurely through the tour.
The event is free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. Click here to register in advance!
Visit any of these participating venues from 1-5 p.m. on January 15th. We’ll be at the Coloma Country Inn handing out complimentary copies of the newest issue of Real Weddings Magazine, along entry forms for our next cover model contest!!!
