Real Weddings Wednesday: Presenting Jennifer and Jordan Webb
The Couple: Jennifer and Jordan Webb
Wedding Date: October 1, 2011
Photography by Kris Holland Photography
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We met in 2007 in a dive bar called the cedar room! We had fun together and so we took a chance at love. We also have an amazing son named Evan James Lee that was born on April 13 2011. He has made life crazy, complete, restless, animated, fun, snuggly and there is never a dull moment! We are very obsessed with Santa Cruz and are blessed to be able to visit as often as we like! Which is where we actually do spend our free time if we can get away!
What was the most amazing part of your day? The first kiss as husband and wife on the beach with our toes in the sand while “Is this love” by Bob Marley played! It was magical!
What else would you like to share about your big day? It rained in Santa Cruz the whole week before our wedding and for some amazing reason the sun shined down all day on October 1st and there wasn’t a rain drop in sight! It was awesome weather and we couldn’t have asked for more!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Just take a deep breath and remember it’s all about one another and a lifetime of love!!! The wedding is a moment that flashes before your eyes so enjoy every second of it and don’t sweat the small stuff!

Real Weddings Sunday: Presenting Cristina Buss and Eric Halverson
The Couple: Cristina Buss and Eric Halverson
Wedding Date: July 9, 2011
Photography by Kris Holland Photography
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Cristina and Eric met in the “nerd” dorm at UC Davis, and were friends for five years before dating for another five years, before finally getting engaged in Italy in June 2010. They are avid ultimate frisbee players and have spent many weekends traveling around the country (and world!) for tournaments — Eric is a current National and World Champion with his team, Revolver, and Cristina won the 2004 National Championship with her U.C. Davis college team.
What was the most amazing part of your day? We wrote special vows to each other in the form of “I love you because _________,” followed by “Because I love you, __________.” Some were sincere, and some were funny, but all followed the pattern of loving something unique about the other and what we’ll “put up with” in exchange! Our friends and family really enjoyed hearing those.
What else would you like to share about your big day? Our friends surprised us with an impromptu rap and a planned, choreographed dance to “Thriller” during the reception.
Ceremony Site, Reception Venue & Caterer: Kirkwood Mountain Resort
Photographer: Kris Holland Photography
Cake: Laurie Hedden (Eric’s mother)
Flowers: 1) Bouquets: Gordon Hill Flower Shop
2) Kathlynn Angie-Buss (Cristina’s step-mother) arranged loose bulk flowers ordered through Gordon Hill Flower Shop to create our centerpieces.
Favors: Fun-Size Skittles (bought at Target). Our programs challenged people to a game of guessing the Skittle’s color based on taste alone, a skill at which Eric proclaims to be an expert.
Wedding Dress: House of Fashion
Bridesmaid Dresses: David’s Bridal
Hair: Carina Port (Cristina’s friend)
Makeup: Lauren Soest with Mary Kay products (Cristina’s friend)
Invitations: David’s Bridal
DJ/Entertainment/Band: Playlists put together by Kevin Cissna (Eric and Cristina’s friend)
Photo Booth: Photo booth with digital camera organized by Carina Port and Megan McKenzie; costumes from Lauren Krugman (Cristina’s friends)
Honeymoon location: Albion River Inn in Albion, California
First Dance Song: Lucky by Jason Mraz
Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? After some contemplation about how to do our bar tab, we ended up hosting wine and beer but not liquor, and it worked out really well because most people could have the thing they wanted, and groups of friends started buying each other shots, etc., which was fun! And like you’ve heard already, keep it in perspective — it’s easy to panic during planning but it will end up being unforgettable. Get a good photographer, because that’s all you have afterward (besides each other). :)
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? We had a basket for people to write us notes/marriage advice, and got some GREAT sincere and humorous comments from friends and family. In retrospect, I wish we had put the cards and pens at the tables during dinner, instead of just out during the reception, so more people would have seen and done this.

Real Weddings Wednesday: Presenting Monica Escajeda and Shane Trimmer
The Couple: Monica Escajeda and Shane Trimmer
Wedding Date: July 24, 2010
Photography by Kris Holland Photography
Tell us a little about you and your beloved: We first met while working at Borders together in 2006. I worked the opening shift while he worked the evening shift. We often heard of one another mentioned through coworkers but it would be a full month before we would actually meet each other. Our first date felt so natural, as if I was meeting up with a friend I had known for years. We both knew instantly that we had met someone incredible. Not a day goes by that I don’t feel like the luckiest girl to have snagged myself such a great man!
What was the most amazing part of your day? First off, being able to share our special day with all of our closest friends and family. Second, complete amazement that we were able to pull off a wedding that took four weeks to plan. Third, being fortunate enough to book The Firehouse Restaurant and Kris Holland Photography!
What else would you like to share about your big day? Our wedding was beautiful! People still say that it was by far the most magical wedding they have ever been to. The Firehouse was the perfect location. The food was incredible and the special events coordinator at The Firehouse made sure everything went smoothly. I also couldn’t imagine a better photographer on one of the most important days of our lives. Kris Holland arrived calm and collected ready to capture every precious moment for us.
Ceremony & Reception Site: The Firehouse Restaurant
Photographer: Kris Holland Photography
Cake: Freeport Bakery
Flowers: Bride’s sister’s mother-in-law, Jane Becker
Favors: Beau-coup
Hair: DND Hair Studio
Makeup: Bobbi Brown Cosmetics
Invitations: PAPYRUS
Entertainment: Clemon Charles
Honeymoon location: London, Spain, Italy and France
First Dance Song: Nat King Cole’s “L.O.V.E” performed by Clemon Charles
Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Don’t stress over the little things. Have fun in the planning stage because before you know it you are saying goodbye to your very last guest. Another thing, eat dinner before because you won’t have time to eat during the event. Sad but true.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Nope. Most amazing day of our lives, so far!
