Mini-Moon: The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles

Downtown LA has come a long way in the last decade or so. Starting with the addition of the Staples Center entertainment and sporting venue, followed by opening of the architecturally breathtaking Walt Disney Concert Hall, and not to mention all the cool lofts, bars and restaurants that popped up in between, you could simply say the metro is having an overdue renaissance.

One of the most exciting additions as of late is the new Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles, a towering, slick skyscraper in the heart of the recently opened LA Live entertainment center. And though it’s in the heart of all the action, this prestigious property enjoys the exclusivity and first-class service you’d expect from its recognizable namesake.

Recommended Resort: The Ritz-Carlton, Los Angeles. The 123 well-appointed rooms share the property with The Ritz-Carlton Residences. There are also 14 luxury suites, including the 3,000-square-foot The Ritz-Carlton Suite. One of the highlights of staying at this unique location is of course the views, with fantastic vantage points from every room offered, including those of the twinkling Los Angeles skyline. The 23rd floor features the signature Ritz-Carlton Lounge, and the 26th floor is home to the rooftop pool and bar, both great places to eat, drink and unwind.

Check-Out: The Ritz-Carlton Spa. Blanketed in a chic and soothing coat of white, this gorgeous 8,000-square foot facility treats you to elegance and comfort, conveniently located on the 2nd floor of the property.

Starting off with a champagne welcome, you’ll prepare for you treatment in the men’s and women’s lounges, both equipped with lockers, vanity, steam rooms and rain showers. After a brief time in the Relaxation Room, it’s off to your treatment room, where you can enjoy your choice of massage, facial or body treatment. Total bliss. And check out the spa boutique for an assortment of great items.

Don’t Miss: WP24. Wolfgang Puck’s new restaurant is already generating much buzz around the City of Angeles. Perched high on the 24th floor, the views alone are simply divine. Combine that with Puck’s exceptional fare, this time with an Asian influence, and you’ll be in culinary heaven.

As a suggestion, start off with a signature cocktail, like the Avaition, and sample some of his smaller plates, like the Sichuan Chicken “Dan Dan” Dumplings with ground peanuts and chili oil; and Crispy Shrimp & Crab hand-cut sushi roll with cucumber, avocado, tobiko and ginger-soy glaze. Come a little early and enjoy your cocktail in the lively lounge.
