Only Six Days Left to Get Your Cover Model Entry Form In!
That’s right, beautiful Real Weddings brides…the deadline to get your cover model contest entry form in is only six days away! Don’t wait until the last minute — do it now!
Want to know more about the cover model contest? Well, then, read on!
Each issue of Real Weddings Magazine features real local-area brides on its cover!
Hundreds of real brides enter, and ultimately three are chosen. Those three real brides get to participate in a day-long photo shoot where they get the chance to vogue it up in front of the camera.
All three of our real bride models will appear on one of our Real Weddings Magazine covers (like the Spring 2011 cover featured above with our cover brides Shelbie, Terra and Elizabeth) and then ultimately, one of our real bride models will be chosen as our cover model winner and appear on the cover of Real Weddings Magazine on her own (like the Winter 2011 cover featured below with our cover model winner Shelbie).
For the Summer/Fall 2011 contest, if you’re a local bride or a local just-married (cannot be married before June 1, 2010) and you’ve got cover aspirations, then you need to enter! Again, the deadline to get your entry in is January 31, 2011 — that’s next Monday at midnight!
Need an entry form? Click here to download it now!
If you’re going to enter…one word of advice, show us your personality on the answers to the questions — we love working with brides who have a lot of spunk, personality, humor and who are just darned cool girls. Be sure that your answers really reflect who you are! Oh, and don’t forget to include photos that really show your personality coming through as well!
Also, be sure to read all of the rules to make sure that you’re eligible to enter and are game to participate!
We cannot wait to see your entries so get them in soon!

Real Weddings Partner Profiles: Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort
Welcome back to another installment of Real Weddings Magazine’s Partner Profiles!
Today, we highlight Brett Lynnly Sneed, Group Sales Manager, from Northstar-at Tahoe Resort. We had the pleasure of working with Brett and the team at Northstar this past fall when we did our cover model photo shoot there, and we can confirm that Brett is one rockin’ cool chick! Take it away Brett!

That’s Brett pictured third from left (she’s pictured with some of the wedding planners at Northstar-at-Tahoe).
Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort
Tell us a little about your company? One of the finest year-round mountain resorts in North America, Northstar Resort is host to a new base area village featuring 35 unique shops and restaurants, a conference center, 9,000 square foot skating rink, on-site lodging, special events and more.
What sets you apart from your competition? Guests enjoy a fun-filled weekend of activities at the best Village at a Resort in California; not to mention fishing, hiking, mountain biking, golf, swimming, tennis and horseback-riding. Did I mention affordable lodging options – the Ritz-Carlton all on site?
Where do you find inspiration? I am inspired by the excitement in each and every bride and groom I have the pleasure of meeting — it truly drives my passion.
Do you have any hidden talents? You mean like cool party tricks? I can pat my head and rub my tummy at the SAME time. Does that count?
What trend do you see upcoming? Family style catered meals at dinner.
Do you regularly blog? What’s your blog site? Yes, it’s MyNorthstarWedding.com
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Mikuni Sushi in the Village at Northstar
What’s your favorite local charity? Brides Against Breast Cancer (bridesagainstbreastcancer.org)
What is your favorite fun thing to do locally? Snorkeling in Lake Tahoe, you don’t see any fish but I have a good imagination.
Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, yum
What are you most grateful for in life? To be in the Wedding business of course!
If you were to plan your own wedding, or re-do your wedding, what elements would be most important to you? I just planned my wedding a few summers ago and the coolest element for me was surprising my husband with a bagpiper during the ceremony (he is Irish and we met on St. Patrick’s Day). He was so touched and had to fight back tears!
What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Make it personal.
Anything else you’d like to share with Real Weddings Magazine’s brides? A good wife always forgives her husband when she’s wrong.

We Have A New Cover Model Winner!
That’s right folks, the Winter/Spring 2011 issue of Real Weddings Magazine arrives at our offices tomorrow, but we’re just too excited to keep a lid on the news any longer!
On the Winter 2011 Cover of Real Weddings Magazine: On Shelbie: dress from Miosa Bride, hat from Louise Green Millinery, flowers by Visual Impact Design.
Congratulations to Sacramento area real bride, Shelbie Brassfield, for being chosen as our cover model winner!
Shelbie, along with her other real bride cover model finalists, Terra Galvez and Elizabeth Burdick, were chosen from hundreds of entries in our cover model contest. We’re thrilled to have her grace the cover of our Winter 2011 issue!
Back in September, we put these girls through their paces at an all day photo shoot at the beautiful Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Featuring local gowns, local floral designers, local hair and make-up teams and the utterly fantastic local photographer Andrea Price from Andrea’s Images Photography, our cover model photo shoot truly was exhilarating! Frankly almost too exhilarating because all of the photos were so fantastic, it was hard to narrow it down to the ones we’d feature in the magazine, and then ultimately, which ones we’d feature on the covers.
We’ll share the Spring 2011 cover — which will feature all three of our cover model finalists — with you soon along with more photos from the shoot. But for now, you’ll just have to be satisfied with these images of our beautiful cover model finalists Shelbie, Elizabeth and Terra!
On Shelbie (left): dress from Miosa Bride, necklace by Erica Koesler available at Advantage Bridal, flowers by Amore Flowers by Katie. On Elizabeth (middle): dress from Miosa Bride, necklace by Tiffany & Co., flowers by Visual Impact Design. On Terra (right): dress from Dreamnette Bridal, necklace and earrings by Tiffany & Co., flowers by Amore Flowers by Katie.

On Elizabeth (middle): dress from Always Elegant Bridal & Tuxedo, flowers by Blooms by Martha Andrews, necklace and earrings by Tiffany & Co.. And I would be completely remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank not only our cover model finalists and my amazing Real Weddings Team who helped to produce this piece (Aimee, Sheree, Desiree, Gloria, Nicole, Leah and Megan), but also all of the incredibly gracious and talented vendors who participated in this shoot. Photo shoots are not easy and it takes a boatload of resources to pull them off, and we are incredibly grateful to all of the vendors who helped us with this feature!

Mini-Moon: Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort
I have fond memories of visiting Tahoe in the late summer and fall months as a kid. The shifting season meant less crowds, crisp nights and memorable weekend getaways. In between picking up pinecones outside our cabin, we would attempt to feed chipmunks or dare head down to the lake for a chilly afternoon plunge. These were good times.
Thankfully, Tahoe hasn’t changed much over the years. It’s still the naturally breathtaking, family-friendly destination of year’s past. A few recent additions also make it a romantic getaway for Sierra-adjacent couples seeking nature and nurture.
The classic Northstar-at-Tahoe resort has something for everyone: great accommodations, every outdoor activity imaginable, dining and shopping, and most recently, the addition of a Ritz-Carlton perched mid-mountain on the property.
Recommended Resort: Northstar-at-Tahoe. Truly a year round destination, this popular resort on the northside of Tahoe in Truckee draws enthusiastic guests summer, winter and every month in-between.
Come ski-season, the 92 trails across 3,000 acres bustle with snow sporters enjoying alpine and Telemark skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing. Summer’s no less exciting, with mountain biking, golfing, scenic lift rides for sightseeing and hiking, fly-fishing and more. Accommodations are wide and varied, from hotel rooms, condo and home rentals, to the Lodge-Hyatt Residence Clubs, to the Ritz-Carlton Highlands, the first five-star property in Tahoe.
Check in: 100 Northstar Dive in Truckee. 800-GO-NORTH, www.northstarattahoe.com
Check out: The Village at Northstar. Since the 2005-2006 season, this collection of boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and luxury condos has entertained guests no matter the season. Some highlights include Baxter’s Bistro and Lounge, The Chocolate Bar, 001 Oakley Concept Shop, Olivier Napa Valley and Bolam Gallery. There’s also a year round skating ring, and once the weather cools off, holiday festivals and fire pits perfect for roasting s’mores.
Don’t Miss: The Ritz-Carlton Highlands. Northern California’s premier mountain retreat, the recently opened property brings a new class of hospitality and amenities never before experienced in the region. Perched slope-side, the Ritz-Carlton offers 170-guest rooms, 23 Private Residences and 25 Club fractional units.
The Highland Spa, a 17,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, features a treatment list themed around the natural elements of wood and water. James Beard award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins presents delicious, seasonal California cuisine at her restaurant Manzanita.
World-class golf, skiing, biking, hiking and more await at Northstar, and the pristine Lake is only a short 15-mintue trip down the hill.
