Real Weddings: Blogs We Love… Kate Miller Events
When in doubt, ask a planner! That’s the advice we would give any bride-to-be in need of some professional backup.
And, one of the best around is Kate Miller Events. Based in Downtown Sacramento on Q Street, the company opened shop in 2008, though leader Kate Miller has been active in the event planning sector for eight years.
Fortunately for Real Weddings Brides, Kate Miller Events shares this expertise, offering a regular blog with fabulous ideas, observations and insights on wedding planning.
We love the pages and pages of inspiring images and cool entries like, how to write the perfect wedding toast and how to stylishly incorporate balloons into a wedding reception. We dig their creativity and genius. You will too!

Real Weddings: Blogs We Love…The Venue Vixens
Location. Location. Location. Perhaps after choosing the perfect dress, the most difficult decision a bride must make is where to host her wedding. Luckily, the gals at The Venue Vixens created a blog to help overwhelmed brides connect with their ideal venue.
Made up of four experienced wedding planners, the Vixens hit the pavement in search of the best sites from Sacramento to Napa and Tahoe (and everywhere in between!). Envisioning a rustic barn, historic mansion, villa or ballroom? Perhaps an orchard, winery, chateau or art gallery? Chances are the Vixens have already done a site inspection and are ready to share the scoop with you.
Look up their selections by category or go straight to the Vixen Values tab for some great deals. Beach club with a cool breeze to mountain lodge with amazing views, the Vixens won’t let you down.

Real Weddings: For Your Review
Welcome back to our “For Your Review” blog series based on our popular column in Real Weddings Magazine by columnist Sharon Penny.
With each issue of Real Weddings Magazine, Sharon scours the globe to find helpful, interesting, fun and often off-beat (which we love!) items and online resources that help you plan (or at least help you blow off some steam while planning) your big day.
We hope you enjoy this week’s “For Your Review” blog post!
Book: Our Wedding Scrapbook - by Darcy Miller
How many brides plan on putting together a keepsake of their wedding and settle for a photo album?
Darcy Miller puts together what can be best described as a “Baby Book for your Wedding.” Questions about how you met, how he proposed prompt you for memories of the day, with plenty of room for you to add your own photos and mementos.
Find out more about this unique scrapbook at Darcy’s Web site.

Real Weddings Partner Profiles: The Venue Vixens
Welcome back to another installment of Real Weddings Magazine’s Partner Profiles!
This week we highlight four fabulous women from The Venue Vixens! Lora Ward, Catrina Arcularius, Kendra Pfeiffer-Wershing and Laurie Schmalzel are a dynamic foursome of experienced professional wedding and event planners. They created The Venue Vixens to help brides like you find the perfect wedding venue. Take it away ladies!
The Venue Vixens
Tell us a little about your company? We are four experienced planners who love to find new and interesting venues to share with our brides.
When did you establish your business? In 2010 as a group, but we’ve been around forever!
What sets you apart from your competition? Our site search is custom and appeals to a bride looking for an off the beaten path venue or something out of the ordinary.
Where do you find inspiration? Each venue we visit inspires us in some way. Some show us how creative we need to be (to hide all the bad parts) and others inspire us to plan our own weddings again. It’s pretty easy to stay inspired when you have four ladies with too much energy and a love for weddings.
When you opened shop, what was your promise to your customers? To continue updating our Web site in hopes that every bride will use our resource in choosing their wedding site.
Do you regularly blog? If so, what’s your blog site? Yes, www.thevenuevixens.com/category/blog/
What’s your favorite local restaurant? Hands down I think all four of us agree it is Mulvaney’s (They didn’t pay us to say that!).
What is your favorite fun thing to do locally? Farmers’ markets and 2nd Saturday
Do you have secret vice or indulgence? What is it? Gossiping about other people in the industry!
What are you most grateful for in life? All of our beautiful children.
What advice would you can give to brides and grooms getting married today? Pick a venue that speaks to you and don’t be so concerned about distance or convenience for everyone. The people you want most to be there will be!
