Real Weddings Dazzling Dresses: Flower Power
Spring can’t come fast enough for us here at Real Weddings Magazine. After a soggy winter, we’re ready for some sunshine. But with winter showers, come spring flowers, so let’s take a look at some bridesmaid dresses budding with personality.
From floral prints, to fabric rosettes, these Pretty Maids by the House of Wu are brightening up our day like a fresh bouquet. Let’s jump to the dresses and have you judge for yourselves:

Chiffon with a sweetheart neckline, this short number spices things up with a few ruffles.
Style 22407
Strapless in a dramatic floral print chiffon, this full-length gown has a front side slip and band at the empire waist.
Style 22409
Another floral print but in a sweet, short silhouette. Adorable.

One shoulder above the rest, elegant flowers adorn the strap of this full-length skirt chiffon beauty.
Style 22428
Strapless chiffon makes for a beautiful rouched bodice and stylish bubble hem.

Don’t Forget…Daylight Saving Time Begins Early Sunday Morning!
Ah, the joy of an extra hour of sleep. Yep, Real Weddings brides, it’s that time again. FALL BACK!
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour when you go to bed on Saturday night. Technically Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, but hey, I’m not waking up at 2 to set the clock back!
That way if you’re heading out to the Bridal Open House at Newcastle Wedding Gardens & Red Horse Barn, you won’t show up too early before the festivities start!
And, mark your calendars for when you lose that hour when we SPRING FORWARD on March 13, 2011.

Mini-Moon: Cal-a-Vie
Celebrating 25 years, the romantic and refreshing Cal-a-Vie Heath Spa in Vista, California, is the place to rejuvenate your body and soul.
About 40 minutes north of San Diego, Cal-a-Vie is nestled on 200 acres of rolling hills and enjoys the fabulous warm Southern California climate year round. If there was ever a place to reboot and reenergize before the hectic holiday season around the corner (not to mention, a respite from your wedding planning?), this haven is certainly on the top of the list.
Recommended Resort: Cal-a-Vie. The property offers 32 Mediterranean-style villas, transporting guests to a country setting you might find in Italy or Southern France. Each villa features terra cotta roofs, wide wooden plank doors and private terraces to enjoy the breathtaking vistas. All rooms come with king-sized beds with Frette linens, handcrafted antique furniture, luxe robes, signature bath products and more.
Check In: 29402 Spa Havens Way in Vista. 866-SPA-HAVENS, or cal-a-vie.com.
Check Out: The Spa. Naturally, this signature facility features in heavily in the Cal-a-Vie experience, and there is no shortage of delightful treatments here to stimulate the senses. We suggest the Micro-Current Optimizing Facial and the BodyCoffee Therapeutic Massage. Gentlemen might prefer the Yon-Ka Skin Fitness for Men and the Trigger Point Massage. Great for fall travel, the Pumpkin Souffle Wrap provides a fully body experience with a seasonal touch.
Don’t Miss: Mind Body Spirit. As much as Cal-a-Vie is about relaxation, it’s also about revitalizing the soul. Believing that “mental clarity is as vital to your well being as your physical condition,” they offer more than 20 mind-body-spirit classes to enhance the experience. Some of the highlights include Tai Chi, several kinds of yoga, meditation in the Chapel, Qi Gong and a labyrinth to quiet the mind.

Mini-Moon: The Beverly Hills Hotel
There is arguably no hotel in Los Angeles more iconic than the Beverly Hills Hotel. From the pink exterior to the hallways lined in banana leaf wallpaper, this one-of-a-kind place has been the playground of the rich and famous since the golden age of Hollywood. Now it’s your turn to experience that bygone era glamour. They’ve even rolled out the red carpet for your arrival.
Recommended Resort: The Beverly Hills Hotel. The prestigious property opened nearly 100 years ago with the vision for a grand landmark at the center of the budding city of Beverly Hills. By the 1920s, the hotel was the favorite stomping ground of the stars, from Chaplin to Valentino, a tradition that has stuck through many decades and many owners. Heavily renovated in the ’90s, the 204-room hotel is back at the top of its game, entertaining guests poolside, by bungalow and at its legendary restaurant and bar.
Check In: The Beverly Hills Hotel, 9641 Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills. 310-276-2251, beverlyhillshotel.com.
Check Out: The Bungalows. Twenty-one in all, these accommodations are really more like individual homes, each with separate entrances, living rooms, dining rooms, wood-burning fireplaces, and a different configuration and decor, including one-of-a-kind furnishings and luxury materials such as granite, marble and hardwood floors. Many also have interesting histories: Elizabeth Taylor honeymooned with six of her eight husbands in the bungalows, and Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich, among others, enjoyed them as well. Bungalow 5, the four-bedroom Presidential Bungalow, offers a private lap pool.
Don’t Miss: The Polo Lounge. Hollywood’s watering hole, this famous restaurant and bar serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and late-night supper in both indoor and outdoor settings. Piano accompanies lunch and dinner, with a special jazz session at Sunday Brunch. If you’re just looking for a quick bite, head down to the Fountain Coffee Room. The Belgian waffle deserves it’s own star on the walk of fame.

Some Fabulous Dazzling Dresses!
While we normally do our Dazzling Dresses blog on Thursdays, we wanted to mix it up a little bit and offer you a little more eye candy, just for today!
We’re so lucky to have some wonderful bridal boutiques in our area. One of our favorite area boutiques is Always Elegant Bridal and Tuxedo Boutique! Bree and her team consistently pick gorgeous dresses for her shop, and she’s gracious enough to let us borrow them for our cover model fashion photo shoot.
And, we’re excited to announce that Always Elegant Bridal and Tuxedo Boutique was just named one of The Knot’s Best of Weddings 2010 Winners! How cool is that? Congrats Bree!
Ok, back to the fabulous frocks!
