Brides…Mark Your Calendars for the Celebrate Coloma Weddings Event!
Hey you Real Weddings brides! Mark your calendars….A unique, one-of-a-kind wedding showcase is set for January 15th.
Introducing the Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event!
During this unique event, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the wedding venues in the beautiful and historic Coloma Valley. Tour the facilities, taste food from the venues’ preferred caterers and meet other top wedding vendors from the local area.
All participating venues are within 1.5 miles of each other. The event runs from 1-5 p.m. so you will have plenty of time to visit all the venues!
Tucked away on Hwy 49 between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, the Coloma Valley is nestled in California’s Gold Country. With outstanding venues, beautiful scenery, and fabulous vendors, this event is not to be missed! The show producers say, “No matter your budget, theme, or unique vision, we have a venue to meet your needs — and planners to help get you there!”
Each of the venues will be providing their own prizes so you’ll want to make sure you register at each of the venues you tour so you can be in the running for all the fabulous prizes that will be given away. Bring labels brides…hint, hint!
And ladies, here’s a suggestion: If you’re bringing your groom along, you might want to drop him off at the Sierra Nevada House (corner of Hwy 49 and Lotus Rd) for some “guy time.” Sierra Nevada House will have football on the big screen, brews and snacks on hand all day. And, once your fella is settled in for some guy fun, you and your girls can make your way leisurely through the tour.
The event is free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. Click here to register in advance!
Visit any of these participating venues from 1-5 p.m. on January 15th. We’ll be at the Coloma Country Inn handing out complimentary copies of the newest issue of Real Weddings Magazine, along entry forms for our next cover model contest!!!

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Fern and I met in church, and I can say that I was attracted to his passion for God along with the passion he has for music. Though we met in California it took us 1,185 miles away from home to get to know each other in Colorado through bible school.
I had never had a boyfriend before (him) and he knew that he had to make our first date extra special…and he did. It was the most romantic date ever! He had a whole day planned just for us. He first took me to the Denver Aquarium as an ice breaker where we got to touch manta rays and ate dip n’ dots for a snack. He then took me to downtown Denver for an Italian gondola ride and officially asked me to be his girlfriend. It was so romantic that by the end of the gondola ride I thought it was going to be over, but it wasn’t, there was more. Then we went to Tony Rigatoni’s, an intimate Italian restaurant away from the big city noice, and it’s also near the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Once we finished dinner we went to the Red Rocks Amphitheater where we watched the sun set and had a beautiful view of Denver.
He then proposed December 1, 2008. As we were decorating the Christmas tree he proposed. Every reaction was recorded on video which I’m very grateful for because even now when I watch it, I still cry…and makes me love him even more. We then got married August 21, 2009. And, now, almost a year later after we still love each other as much as when we had our first kiss. We strive to challenge each other to love, to trust and to hold each other accountable. I thank God for my wonderful husband and for the future he has in store for us!
What was the most amazing part of your day? The whole day was amazing! There are three memories that really stand out:
1. As I was putting on my dress and coming out to take pictures before the wedding ceremony felt so surreal. I really didn’t believe the “big” day was here! I remember this because it was so hot, and I was getting a little dehydrated. But as we were taking pictures I knew everything was going to be ok. Once I saw Fern I was reminded that I knew that I waited for the right one.
2. As I was walking down the aisle, I couldn’t contain my tears. Unfortunately I grew up without a father, so my uncle and one of my pastors walked me down the aisle. The moment I saw Fern looking at me I was overcome with emotion knowing that he was going to fill the love that was taken from my life. I knew he was going to be a great companion and a great husband.
3. I think the most magical moment for us was taking pictures walking down the road with a beautiful sunset in front of us. I thank our photographer for capturing the moment — that was the icing on the cake.
What else would you like to share about your big day? We thank everyone who came, especially those who came from far away including our family that came from L.A. and our family that came from Mexico. Having our family and our close friends be a part of our wedding was amazing! So, thank you everyone!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? My advice to anyone is to have people help you plan your wedding and don’t try to do it all by yourself, especially if you’re out of state. I did all the planning myself, and while it was really stressful, I don’t regret a moment of it. On the day of your wedding, take a moment to sit back without interruption and enjoy that small moment because the day will go by fast. And one more thing…love with all that you are and live the moment with happiness and joy.

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: My husband always swore he would never meet his wife at a bar, boy was he wrong! We love living an active lifestyle, and are total partners in crime. We appreciate the good, the bad and everything in between, and challenge each other to keep life interesting. I was bored until I met Scott, he is my spice!
What was the most amazing part of your day? My dad loves his vintage hot rods, and what’s not to love about a suped up 1937 Ford Cabriolet Coupe with flames down the sides? That was my “horse and carriage” to the aisle. I am sort of a daddy’s girl and that moment sitting there waiting to drive up with my dad, we had a heart to heart that was priceless. He walked me down the aisle to “Every Little Thing She Does (Is Magic)” by The Police and when we pulled up everyone started cheering. I mean standing ovation and screaming! Then I saw my groom, it was just incredible, it moved my core.
What else would you like to share about your big day? Our wedding had a classic vintage theme with bright colors and a crystal chandelier at the reception site. Just one for impact, not too much. I think you can make the statement you want and set the mood within your budget by reasoning “less is more” because really, it is!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Sit back and enjoy the ride! Everyone says “don’t stress” but of course you are going to. Just try to let others help that want to help, you aren’t Superwoman. And make sure you pick a theme for your wedding, it makes ALL your other decisions easier; if it doesn’t fit the theme, it goes.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? Not really, I loved it all!
