Real Weddings Wednesday: Presenting Alisha and Sean Werner

The Couple:  Alisha and Sean Werner

Wedding Date:  August 20, 2011

Photography by Lexigraphics Photography

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  Sean and I met through my sister, Amanda — they were friends in college. Amanda asked her friends not to flirt with me during the times I came to visit, needless to say Sean never really listened to her. After a couple of years, I started at the same college and we started a friendship of our own — it quickly blossomed into something more.

What was the most amazing part of your day?  Finally being able to call each other husband and wife! To exchange the vows that we wrote together is one of my more powerful memories from the day. Exchanging promises of unconditional love and to spend of our lives together in front of our loved ones was such a magical moment.

What else would you like to share about your big day?  All of the vendors that we used were so wonderful and helpful. It really pays off to work with people who were so sweet and excited to help you achieve your vision.

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?  Try and take care of the small details and little decisions, because waiting until two weeks before the big day will make make them harder and larger. Also there is always something that will go a little wrong the day of, just remember it doesn’t matter and no one will notice that it’s missing…just soak in all of the joy and love!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?  Nope, nothing! Like I said before, everyone I worked with was out of this world — I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. I married my best friend…that’s all I wanted anyway.

Destination: Scotland

A good friend just returned from a wedding at a Scotland castle and said the experience was unreal!

The ambiance sounded too “Four Weddings and a Funeral” chic to resist checking out. So, we came upon this charming 15th Century Scottish castle and had to share it with you.

If you’ve always dreamed of a Camelot-inspired ceremony, you may want to look no further than Comlongon Castle near Gretna.

From what we’ve discovered, it appears this beautifully kept medieval venue really caters to brides and grooms in search of an authentic experience. If your idea of wedding bliss is more kilts and knights than starry nights at the beach, why not consider this castle for a unique destination event?

Here’s what the venue itself has to say about the experience:

“Comlongon Castle, near Gretna in Scotland, is a restored 15th century medieval Scottish castle wedding venue and luxurious baronial hotel with 14 individually themed luxury en-suite four-poster bedrooms. The wedding castle hotel has two award winning oak paneled restaurants for receptions and a private resident’s bar. Our chefs specialize in local produce, changing their menus daily.

This romantic medieval castle is the perfect wedding venue for your wedding castle reception or celebration in Scotland.

Steeped in Scottish border history, Comlongon Castle is more that just a Scottish wedding castle venue – it has fantastic displays of armour, weapons and banners, whilst the opulent bedrooms boast four-poster beds and jacuzzis providing a stunning blend of medieval and modern luxury.

At Comlongon Castle your stay with us will be a unique and memorable experience. A privately owned and run family business for over two decades, we offer our clients a particular blend of history and privacy. The Castle’s private 120-acre estate reveals sweeping manicured lawns, secluded gardens, ornamental carp filled ponds, paddocks and woodlands.

On the Scottish/English border, just 15 minutes from Gretna, the setting, facilities, staff and atmosphere all combine to create an unrivalled location to enjoy, remember and revisit.”

Can you just hear the bagpipes playing?
