Mini Moon: Four Seasons Las Vegas

You’ve done the Strip, but have you done the Four Seasons? When talking Vegas, this luxurious staple often gets overlooked with all the fancy and themed competition lighting up the Boulevard. But rest assured this Four Seasons is a hotel experience worthy of its prestigious name. On the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard, it’s far enough away from the main action to enjoy a less raucous scene…a welcome respite in a sin city.

Recommended Resort:  The Four Seasons Las Vegas. This non-gaming property is a little piece of heaven in a town known for being a little devilish. Tranquil and elegant, it’s everything you’d expect in a Four Seasons, from well-appointed rooms to first class service. The hotel is small and intimate by Vegas standards, with 424 rooms that include 86 suites, sitting high above on the Mandalay Bay Tower’s 35th to 39th floors via private express elevators. If you do want get in on the high-stakes, Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is right at your fingertips.

Check in:  3960 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas. 702-632-5000, fourseasons.com/lasvegas.

Check out:  The hotel’s two dining venues, Verandah and Charlie Parker Steak. Verandah offers a mix of American and Italian fair in a gorgeous indoor/outdoor setting overlooking the gardens and pool. Charlie Parker Steak serves an innovative menu in an upscale dinning room and lives up to its reputation as one of the best steakhouses in Vegas.

Don’t Miss:  What would a Four Seasons be without a fabulous spa? Luckily, the Vegas version is no exception with a delightful sanctuary of treatment and relaxation rooms. Sign up for the Vitality of the Glaciers, their signature facial, an intensive age defense treatment designed to rejuvenate cellular metabolism. The treatment begins with a cleansing using glacial spring water, rich in trace elements and minerals, which is followed by a dual-exfoliation process. An RNA, DNA and collagen treatment restores skin firmness, suppleness and resilience, with astonishing visible results.

Mini-Moon Monday: Palazzo Las Vegas

Growing up in less than five hours from Las Vegas, I’m no stranger to the dazzling, ever-evolving Strip.

I can remember overindulging in ice cream at the kitschy Pink Pony Restaurant as a kid (a venue now sadly reminiscent of your average Denny’s), or crashing on a pool lounger at the Mirage after an all-night escapade with a buddy during college. Even as an adult, I still look to Vegas for over-indulgence and some much-needed crashing, even if now done with more than a touch of sophistication. As the landscape of the Strip has changed over the years, so have my expectations of Vegas, all for the better. Yet, no matter how many resorts, Cirque de Soleil shows or Elvis impersonators invade Las Vegas Boulevard each year, one theme encompasses all…the pursuit of pleasure.

Recommended Resort: The Palazzo Las Vegas. One of the newer resorts to hit the Strip in the last few years, this is by far my favorite. Drenched in Italian opulence, the result is nonetheless a stunning class act with cascading waterfalls, dazzling atriums and statuary. Just try and not have the ambiance take your breath away. The suites are equally as impressive, with generous bathroom space and comfortably stylish living space. This is luxury at its most elegant, tasteful, and unstuffy.

Check-In:  The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino, 3325 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas. 866-263-3001 or www.palazzolasvegas.com.

Check-out:   One of the highlights of the resort is the Canyon Ranch Spa Club (pictured above), shared with sister resort The Venetian. This celebrated spa, one of the largest you’ll ever experience, has everything from fitness facilities to Aquavana, a watery oasis for total relaxation in hot and cold environments. My massage therapist, Rob, gave me, hands down, the BEST massage I’ve ever had…look this guy up when you are there! They also offer couple massages for the perfect spa day with your partner. Also, be sure to sign up for the rock climbing wall, an not-as-easy-as-it-looks exercise routine everyone should try and is especially fun to do with a partner…just don’t get all “Amazing Race” or anything.

Don’t Miss:  Jersey Boys(pictured above). We hedged our bets that this show will surely run for a decade. Filled with the hits of the Four Seasons, the autobiographical musical charts the group’s rise to stardom and the price of success. The cast we saw was top-notch and the audience couldn’t have been more fired up with every memorable tune performed. Definitely one of the best shows in Vegas and a MUST see. Follow up your night at the theatre with dinner at LAVO (pictured below), a beautiful restaurant and nightclub adjacent to the main lobby. The menu is sizable and spectacular, with a variety of Italian inspired offerings, creative cocktails and a fine wine list. Save room for the bread pudding, that’s all I’m saying. If you’re able to pull yourself out of a food coma the next day, hit the Shoppes at the Palazzo…but guard your credit card, with retailers like Barney’s New York, Michael Kors and Diane von Furstenberg, the results could be dangerous.
