Real Weddings Wednesday: Presenting Anna and Robert Pierce

The Couple:  Anna and Robert Pierce

Wedding Date: December 31, 2010

Photography by: Kris Holland Photography

Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Rob and I met five years ago when he was on a trip home from the military. I met him through my two roommates whom he had grown up with. We decided what we had found was worth sticking it out long distance for nine months until he completed his time in the Air Force and moved home. Rob and I fell in love, bought a house, started a family and then decided it was time to tie the knot! Our wedding day was everything I could have imagined and more — but being married is by far the best part!

What was the most amazing part of your day? By far — being with all our family and friends. We decided to have a New Year’s wedding —  that way we were able to share our special day with everyone we love, while at the same time ringing in the new year with a huge party!!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Don’t stress! Focus on a few items that mean the most to you and don’t sweat the small stuff! The day itself will go by so fast and all of your guests will remember only how beautiful you were and how much fun they had.

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?I know it sounds very cliché , but everything turned out absolutely perfect!! I would have liked to take a step back the day of and let everything really sink in, because everything goes by so fast and some things about the night are a blur. So to future brides…try to stay calm and EAT!!!!

Real Weddings Inspiration Board: Presenting Katie Ladd and Matthew Stevens

The Couple:  Katie Ladd and Matthew Stevens

Wedding Date:  October 22, 2010

Photography by:  Lexigraphics

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  Matthew and I met in college and fell for each other pretty fast. Apart from being very much in love we have similar interests, the same basic goals in life and share a love for God. We are so excited about living our lives together and starting the next chapter in our life!

What was the most amazing part of your day?  Walking down the aisle toward Matthew. That moment was magical.

What else would you like to share about your big day?  I was so excited to finally get to show Matthew the video game themed groom’s cake we designed for him. He LOVED it!

Also, my grandfather was our officiant. He has married all seven of his grandchildren, and I was the last one. It was a very emotional moment for all of us.

Ceremony Site and Reception Venue:  The Carriage House

Caterer:  Amy Gimmick at Cool River Pizza (She was the best!)

Flowers:  Becky’s Flowers

Photo Booth:  Profinish Designs

Honeymoon location:  Orlando, Florida. We went to Disneyworld! :)

Any other of your wedding vendor(s) you’d like to call out?  Patty Garnto at Simply Elegant did our decorating and it looked amazing!

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now?Weddings are magical but they literally fly by. Splurge the money on a photographer and a videographer because they will help capture the memories and let you relive that magical day. You’d be surprised how much stuff you miss!

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? My wedding was beautiful and I have no regrets. The only thing that went wrong was the only thing I couldn’t control and that’s the weather. The first rain of the season started right when the outside ceremony was supposed to! You know what though? We waited a few minutes until it slowed down then had the ceremony anyway! The rain added to the romance in the end. When things go wrong, just keep a good attitude because no matter what you’ll be married at the end of the day, and sometimes it makes the wedding all the more memorable.

Real Weddings Inspiration Board: Presenting Jessica and Paul Scholz

The Couple:  Jessica and Paul Scholz

Wedding Date:  October 2, 2010

Photography by:   Sarah Dawson Photography

Tell us a little about you and your beloved:  Jessica started attending William Jessup University (WJU) in August 2005 where she lived in the dorms, and after the first year, she decided to join the leadership team for New Student Orientation. Paul graduated from Sierra College and decided to pursue a degree in ministry at WJU. During the orientation in 2006, Jess and Paul met and were teamed up for a community service project which included gluing “No Dumping” pendants in Downtown Roseville. Sharing three classes with each other that Fall semester, visits to the gym and a couple of coffee dates led to their first date at the Pheasant Club.

They became official in December of that year and have had incredible years together with trips to San Francisco, wine tasting at different vineyards, getting through crazy ministry projects and supporting Jessica in her passion for sales. They got engaged July 12, 2009 at Young’s Winery near El Dorado Hills. Jessica moved to the Bay Area to pursue her career in medical sales in August 2009, and Paul followed shortly after getting a job as a high school youth pastor. They have been supported and loved by a wonderful community to accomplish all that they have and look forward.

What was the most amazing part of your day?  The long and anticipated walk down the aisle was one to remember. Jessica got to spend some one-on-one time with her father, and Paul was excited for the future.

What else would you like to share about your big day?  We had hung bells in the oak tree at our ceremony site to remember those in our family who had passed.

Ceremony and Reception Site:  Serrano Country Club

Photographer:  Sarah Dawson Photography

Caterer:  Serrano Country Club

Cake:  Classic Cakes by Jayne Marie

Flowers:   Heavenly Flowers & Events

Hair and Make-up:  Kristen Brassfield at Fusion Salon and Spa

Invitations:  Designed and made by groom

DJ:  Music and More Entertainment

Honeymoon location:  Chicago, IL

First Dance Song:  “You’ve Got What it Takes” by Michael Buble featuring Sharon Jones

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Planning your wedding is supposed to be fun, so don’t stress the small details. Also, there will always be something that will go wrong on the wedding day…don’t let ruin your day (Jessica forgot her veil during the ceremony, so she just put it on for pictures).

Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance?  We would not change a thing; the day was more than we could imagine.

Reminder… Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event Tomorrow!

Just a reminder Real Weddings Brides!

This Saturday is the big day for the Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event! We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Here’s the 411 on the upcoming event:

Don’t miss this unique, one-of-a-kind wedding showcase on Saturday, January 15th.

Introducing the Celebrate Coloma Weddings: Discover Your Treasure Event!

During this unique event, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the wedding venues in the beautiful and historic Coloma Valley. Tour the facilities, taste food from the venues’ preferred caterers and meet other top wedding vendors from the local area.

All participating venues are within 1.5 miles of each other. The event runs from 1-5 p.m. so you will have plenty of time to visit all the venues!

Tucked away on Hwy 49 between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe, the Coloma Valley is nestled in California’s Gold Country. With outstanding venues, beautiful scenery, and fabulous vendors, this event is not to be missed! The show producers say, “No matter your budget, theme, or unique vision, we have a venue to meet your needs — and planners to help get you there!”

Each of the venues will be providing their own prizes so you’ll want to make sure you register at each of the venues you tour so you can be in the running for all the fabulous prizes that will be given away. Bring labels brides…hint, hint!

And ladies, here’s a suggestion: If you’re bringing your groom along, you might want to drop him off at the Sierra Nevada House (corner of Hwy 49 and Lotus Rd) for some “guy time.” Sierra Nevada House will have football on the big screen, brews and snacks on hand all day. And, once your fella is settled in for some guy fun, you and your girls can make your way leisurely through the tour.

The event is free to attend, but pre-registration is encouraged. Click here to register in advance!

Visit any of these participating venues from 1-5 p.m. on January 15th. We’ll be at the Coloma Country Inn handing out complimentary copies of the newest issue of Real Weddings Magazine, along entry forms for our next cover model contest!!!

Also, the show’s producer advises that despite today’s technology, cell phone reception can be an issue in the Coloma Valley area. Additionally GPS services may loose their connection en route. They suggest you take notes of these locations and get directions off the Web site of the venue you would like to begin at.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
